We attended Gene's 3-day training two years ago and are about to close on the construction loan for our first RAL. We bought the house a year and a half ago and have faced multiple significant barriers to get architect plans approved and financing in place. It's not an easy trek, but if you are absolutely committed and have access to some significant finances to invest, then it is achievable. We searched for several months for a quality manager and are about to bring the individual on-board now during renovations and licensing as you suggest in your post.

My military step-son is interested in purchasing a duplex for a house-hack. He is stationed at Camp Lejeune .

Any suggestions on who may be able to help identify potential properties? If no duplexes around, then perhaps a SFH investment property. Buy and hold is objective.

@Daniel Toshner, Nice post and congrats! Good to hear from someone who is using USREEB with a successful story; I started using them this year with a SFR deal in Ohio.
