Welcome Thomas Tibbitts! I see we are neighbors. Like Jon Holdman said you should put up a profile picture, it makes it easier to connect. Also, you should definitely check out the Chelmsford REIA and the Black Diamond REI meeting. Both are great places for learning and networking (in addition to this site of course!). Black Diamond has a meeting on Tuesday in Waltham, its free, and there is no BS upselling... you should check it out if you get the chance.

Joel Owens Thanks for sharing! Congrats on your success.

I hear you about the emotional issues when dealing with residential. However, I imagine it is much more difficult to find a deal in commercial RE since the players are a little more saavy. Do you agree?

I had a good first quarter as far as appraisals are concerned. I am wrapping up my last appraisal for a while, a 180,000 square foot warehouse. Unfortunately the market for that type of property is pretty thin; however, things are very different when it comes to residential properties.

I am going to take a hiatus from appraising (bored with all the writing) and try my hand at rei investing full time, starting with wholesaling for a few aggressive rehabbers in my area. If I can get the deal flow cranking, I have big plans for after that (Justin Silverio feel free to ride my coattails ;))

So, I am curious, how is everyone's quarter shaping up? How many deals have you done? What trends are you seeing?

I was thinking you could just send them a letter and then follow up with a visit to the house. But, I'm sure its not a bad idea to build relationships with your neighbors and let them know what you do. Also, I haven't done any deals yet... so take my advice with a grain of salt :)

Seems reasonable to me. I think you could be more aggressive, but if you are not in a hurry I think its sounds good.

Read 5 or 6 books, go to REIA Meetings, get your real estate license and get active on here and in 6 months you know what opportunities you want to go after

Ben Kahle Did you ever give door knocking a try?
