Thank you for the response, I sent you a private message, well at least I believe I did. I am still getting the hang of this site, including how you guys tag one another. Hopefully we can work something out soon.

Hello everyone, I am located in Lubbock, TX and I am looking to meet other investors in the area to get my foot in the door on learning the ropes of RE investing. I plan to buy my first property within the year and would find it very helpful to have another source of knowledge other than just the many books I am reading.

@Chad Carson, not sure how you guys tag one another just yet so I am experimenting on this one. Thank you for the advise, the book looks like it is going to be a great read, i should be beginning on it by the end of the day tomorrow.
You asked, what are my next steps and future plans. Well as of now I am trying to focus on build relationships with investors who are actually interested in investing in young versions of themselves. I had a guy message me on here yesterday from my area, I think I will take the time to go and meet the guy and maybe learn some things and or even get involved with anything he may have lined up. Within the next two years I hope to have finances set up to flip my first home, I have been researching home values and market in this area non stop, keeping my eye on every shift in the market that can happen. I hope all my research pays off in the end because as of now I am teaching myself.

I have been reading Flipping houses for Dummies since the middle of last week, great read with very interesting facts about the business. I also received The Ultimate beginners guide to Real Estate Investing, and The book on Flipping Houses from the guys here at BiggerPockets.com. I have a lot of reading to do, if anyone knows of any other good reads please inform me. Hope to soon be knowledgeable and comfortable enough to make my first step towards my investing.

Thank you everyone for the respectful replies. I have always been much of an entrepreneur, my fiancé thinks I am a little crazy at time but to my knowledge I see success comes to those who get out and work for it.

Hello everyone, my name is Steven, I am currently new to the BiggerPocket.com member forums although I am not new to reading their material. I spend countless hours planning for my future, I read tons of books recommended by you all. I have joined BiggerPockets.com in hopes that I can create some outstanding relationships that just are not possible here in my local area. I have experience in a couple of fields useful in the RE investment business, though I am currently seeking out my agent license I have much larger plans than just this. I plan to buy my first rental property this year and soon after hope to make rehabilitation of my local eye sore homes the focus of my career. I have a lot left to learn, but that does nothing but motivate me. I pray that you all do well on your journey and do not be surprised if I make myself well know in this community. I have very large dreams and to be know is the only way to create partnerships. Thank you
