I just got my broker's license 9/12/15 and I'm now taking the 3 required post-license courses.  First off, I have a BS in Computer Science from NC State and 30 yrs experience working at the same university and the last 15 yrs has been working with ERP systems and Identity Mgmt systems.  So, I'm certainly not clueless.

In NC, our state is known as being one of the hardest to get a license in and after seeing how many people have been repeating the course I took or who were not able to pass the test I am feeling pretty good to have my license and am proud of it.  NC is pretty harsh on brokers who either break the law or NC License law.

As for honesty, I'd say it's who you picked.  In my classes, the ones I know who have passed have all come across to me as being very honest.  In the classes I took (from an atheist, and yes, I am also a Christian), he stressed the importance of not worrying about your commission.    He said just do right by your client and do your best and the money will come.  The customers can tell if you're being honest and genuine and will refer you if they feel you've done good.  They will also burn you if not.  So focus on your job and doing all you can for your customers and get it right and you won't have to worry about a check.

He also stressed over and over and over about how easy it is for a Realtor to end up in prison for loan fraud, misrepresentation, not doing his job right, etc, etc, etc.

I plan to do everything in my power to get it right, not just for myself or for the check but I sincerely want to help people get their future homes.

Sorry for your problems and good luck in the future transactions!

Art, you did a beautiful job!  You took something ugly and sad and made it wonderful and most likely better than it ever was in it's life.  Someone will be thrilled to buy and live in that house now.

Curious, do you hire out to other flippers in your area?

I am currently taking the pre-license class at HPW on saturdays and sundays.  I will say up front not to bother if you don't have the time to put in it.  We just started and so this weekend was our first meeting and guess how many chapters we covered?  SIX!  and we have a quiz first thing at the next class meeting on those first chapters.  Lots and lots and lots of information to learn.  Way more than I had initially thought.  Instructor has told us to read, reread all the chapters each week, study study study at least 2hrs per day all 7 days of the week and we might pass the class test and hopefully, the state test.

I'm getting my license before investing.  I'm doing the pre-license class 3/28 to 5/3 and hope to have the license in hand within 3 wks after that.  I plan to work as an agent on the side to help pay for properties I might want to purchase.

I know how it's best to die at home and how it is natural and all but yes, it would creep me out to know that someone had 'just died' in the unit.  I wouldn't want to live in it.  It's silly but... that's how we are today.

It would be different if it was MY loved one.  I've had family members die at home and never felt odd about it.

just got mine too earlier this week but haven't been able to get to read it yet.  So glad to hear it's all it's been pumped up to be!

I did watch an interview with J Scott that Brandon did with him last night after the webinar. It was pretty interesting. Depressing to hear that the money has really dried up big time for REI but also interesting.
