Pinterest is another social media tool like Facebook, Twitter, Google +, and blogging to attract an audience. I haven't used Pinterest but it could lead to another market of followers (buyers, investors, etc).

Hi Amber Butler! That's great you're working with your husband on locating properties. Two heads are better than one. Just make sure you the agree on the properties you look at.

I'm originally from Philly and want to invest there one day in the future. What area in Philly are you focusing on?

Johnson,
I would sell or exchange the homes when the price of the homes has doubled. That's 100% return on your investment. I think a lot of people got greedy in the past couple of years and then the market dropped in stocks and real estate. It's hard to predict when the next bubble to appear so get out before you get slaughtered (as Jim Cramer would say) and have no returns to show for it. It's better to come out ahead. If the market continued to go past the 100% retrun you may look back and say if I would have only stayed in a little longer you could make a couple more thousand. But if you stay in too long, you could end up in a bubble and then lose a couple of thousand.

I was stationed there from 20006-2010 and still own a property in Killeen. The area didn't take a beating in terms of pricing like other areas did during this timeframe. The builders however did build and continued to build so there are a lot of new developments that went up. I think it's a good market but it's about location since some areas are better than others. My home is in between main post and West Ft Hood and adjacent to the Metroplex Hospital - I consider this a good location.

As Bill Gulley mentioned Fort Hood most likely won't go away. With the optempo of the area you could see a lot of vacancies or a lot of homes that are rented - with most of the units returning home you could see more stability. But it's hard to tell these days what's going to happen next.

Kyler Rice I'm scheduled to go to school at Fort Leavenworth for a year. I'm not sure if I'll stay in the area longer but my wife has been hinting to stay there a few more years after I'm done school.

We'll have to get together and talk when I get there.

Kyler Rice I'll be sure to contact you. I'll leave Louisiana around mid to late June and take a road trip before arriving to Kansas.

I've been waiting for the IPO since 2009. With over 900 million users and this price, I plan to buy. The price may be a little higher than the price we've seen listed but I'll pay a few extra bucks. Google came out at $87 or so and is now over $500. Linkedin came out around $45 and recently priced at $117. It's a gamble but most stocks are gambles since we don't the "real" story of a company. My two cents.

Great thread. I was looking at a home the other day and went in the garage. There was a strong damp smell and I thought it could be wet surroundings or possible signs of mold. I had no idea what mold looked like but have heard the term used a lot here in Louisiana.

I talk to a home inspector and told him I was thinking about buying a home. I told him the address and he said he inspected the home recently. He said he couldn't tell me everything but he made a few comments about mold and that the home needed a drainage system placed in the yard. After reading a few posts and searching on the internet he was really trying to tell me there is mold in the home. I'll take another look at the home tomorrow or Saturday and decide to pursue this home or not.
