Wow that sounds fantastic @Connor Ramage!  Best of luck with building your real estate business.  I don't have any advice in the legal entity area, but I hope things turn out great for you!

@Account Closed That all depends on the firm you join.  Some firms are fine with you just "hanging your license" and not doing any work there.  Keep in mind, that you'll still have to split your commission with them if you are responsible for any transactions in your brother's business.

However, if you think you'll have access to "off-the-market" deals just because you have a real estate license, you might be thinking a bit incorrect... The only way you'll find off market deals, is by connecting and knowing the people that are selling those deals. As soon as something goes on the MLS, it becomes "on the market" and will be published within the next few days to every site imaginable. Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com, etc.

And yes, to have access to the MLS, you generally need a real estate license. You also have to pay a fee to maintain access to it. I'm not sure what your state charges, but I have to pay $70 every quarter.

Welcome to BiggerPockets @Zack Beckman! There's a huge number of resources on BiggerPockets to learn from.  Make sure to follow the forums, listen to the podcasts, and read the blog.

What aspect of real estate are you interested in?  I'm a real estate agent who works with small multifamily investors & fix and flippers, so if you need any advice in that sphere, feel free to reach out to me and I'll do whatever I can for you!

Best of luck,

Matt Lefebvre

Welcome to BiggerPockets @Robert Fiacco! BiggerPockets is a great resource for learning about multifamily investing. I'd recommend joining a local REIA (real estate investment association) to learn a bit more about the real estate market, and meet professionals in your area. I'd also suggest finding an investor-friendly real estate agent to help familiarize yourself with the market.

Let me know if I can ever be of any help to you!

Three pieces of advice @Richard Oglesby...

  • I would certainly agree with @Michael Woodward on reading the Millionaire Real Estate Agent.  Some of the most successful real estate teams in the country follow it like a BIBLE and that's why they've reached such high levels.
  • Make sure to find yourself a GREAT firm to work for.  The real estate class does not prepare you for what the business is like.  You need a place that offers education and support or you'll find it much more difficult to make a living.
  • And always remember the most important piece of your business.  GETTING LEADS.  If you don't work on getting leads every week, you don't have appointments, listings, closings or paycheck.  Take it one step at a time.  Spend every day focusing on getting leads.  Call everyone you know and tell them you're in the business.  Knock on all of the doors in your neighborhood and make sure they know you're in real estate.  Wear your nametag out in public wherever you go.  Heck, even leave business cards after you eat out for dinner (I do it every time!).  Getting new business is your number one priority.  There's a million different things you can do, but always remember, without leads, you don't get a paycheck.

Best of luck to you, and if you'd ever like to have a chat, feel free to reach out to me and I'll help you out any way I can!

Hey @Matt Crow.  Want me to put you in touch with a lender?  I work with a great company that oftentimes lends when other companies refuse to.  They're right over in Bedford.

@Monica Bhattacharya Yeah definitely!  Let me send you a contact request and we can set up a time to chat :).

Also, in case you want to alert someone that you replied to their message, type "@" followed by their name.  It should be highlighted in blue if you did it correctly.

Welcome @Monica Bhattacharya!  I'm a real estate agent that covers Southern NH (and live right nearby!) that works with investor buyers and sellers (for rental properties or fix & flip).  You'll find a ton of useful information on BiggerPockets.  From the forums, to the podcasts, to the blog posts, read everything you can and you'll learn a lot!

I'd also recommend meeting other investors nearby.  There's a few Real Estate Investment Associations (REIAs) around that you should check out.  NHREIA meets once a month and there are a lot of great people to meet and learn from.

Best of luck to you, and feel free to reach out to me with any questions you have!
