Hey Scott,

I believe your counties with real population growth are Kent, Ottawa, Kalamazoo, and Traverse which are nowhere near you, unfortunately.

But, in saying that the metro Detroit area (Berkely, Royal Oak, Hazel Park, Warren, Clawson, Madison Heights, Ferndale, Troy, Rochester, etc. are amazing markets to be in despite what you hear on the news about "Detroit".

I know and am meeting more people who are investing in your area (Genesee County) who do very, very well.

I think many of the answers are going to vary to your questions. It really depends on how far you are looking to travel.

Hey Eric,

Welcome to the site. There is a wealth of knowledge here and people at your disposal that have done exactly what you are looking to do.

I would read as much as possible, connect with people on this site, and hit local REIA meetings when time permits.

Have fun!

Welcome Jennifer!

There is a good meeting every month in the Flint area - the GLA (Genesee Landlord Association). Hope to see you there and talk some investing in the Flint area!

Obviously, this is a great place as well!

You both have good points. I think it is more of a pride thing...How long until all humans decide to give up driving their own car and get rid of that whip they worked hard for?? Im personally not going to give up my Ferrari to let some computer drive me around in a VOLT or PRIUS until im about 70, if ever. I know im not alone on that. I find it hard to believe that it wont be another decade or two until thats a major issue.
