@Jared Butterfield

I listened to a great podcast from BP a while ago and I forgot which one it was but this podcast talked about the mentor/ mentee relationship. I agree with Christopher Hunter in that you need to be able to offer something to the mentor in exchange for their expertise. I am in the same boat as you but as the podcast has taught me offer your time, your willingness to do the leg work, and ability to seek out deals in exchange for guidance and direction. It needs to be a two sided relationship. That's what I'm currently working on myself. Best of luck to you and remember you create your own luck.

@Dan Chapman ,

I'm from Washington area. You said you were currently doing a fix and flip in the Seattle are. Let me know if you are looking for deals to flip, the kind of deals you flip, and what you are comfortable with with. I would love to work with you.

@Brandon Turner,

Thanks for the heads up on the meet up. As my long introduction states, I am always looking for ways to meeting Washington investors. This is a side note but when I was writing my new member introduction at a restaurant, these two business people sat down and started talking real estate. They were talking about building multimillion dollar housing subdivisions and apartments and acquire land to do so. One of the men was a seasoned investor while the other guy was there to build a relationship with the other guy. I got very jealous because I hope to be sitting on that conversation myself in the future. Well heres to taking the steps to get there!

Hello Bigger Pockets. I am excited to finally write my new member introduction. It’s been such a pleasure looking at the wonderful resources that are provided on the site and how resourceful the BP community has been. I would like to first talk about how I am getting into the real estate business.

I have a wonderful career as a pediatric nurse and it’s so rewarding to be able to help others who otherwise cannot help themselves. My job brings me great joy and personal accomplishment but I would like to have a more secure financial future. Nursing is a great career but my vision and ambition is to aspire to have real estate property that works for me.

I started out listening to the Bigger Pockets podcast which taught me how attainable success in real estate really is. My biggest qualities are hard work and determination. According to the question that is at the end of every podcast, “ What separate the successful real estate investors from the unsuccessful investors,” you need that quality the most. I am constantly looking for ways to educate myself on how to be successful and learning from the mistakes from the people who come before me. Thanks to the podcast I am on my way to getting a firm hold on real estate investing.

My business plan is to start out wholesaling deals in the Lynnwood area. After gaining enough capital for a safety net and putting enough down to purchase a property, I want to rehab and resell houses. This will eventually lead to building spec houses but I know that financial success really means to buy and hold property. This is a brief business plan but it’s my “one liner” of what I want to do in real estate.

I have already taken actionable steps towards my plan. I have become an active member in my REIA group going to meetings and networking with members, looking for ways to build my real estate team utilizing the references from REIA, taking classes to learn how to wholesale, and using the materials that is exclusive to REIA members. I recommend joining the REIA so that you can get your foot in the door with real estate as well as building your real estate business by getting exposure. You can go to REIAwa.com to get more information and I did not get paid to plug that in.

Thanks to the podcast I was introduced to a wonderful book by J Scott’s called How to Flip Houses which I already finished reading. I highly recommend everyone reads it even if you are not flipping houses. I took extensive notes on every chapter so that I can easily reference it at a later point since rehabbing houses is not my first step in real estate. The next step is to find my first deal, find a buyer, and close the deal which I have already have take steps towards.

I am seeking to utilize the Bigger Pockets community to continue to build my network, find local investors, continue learning, and be able to give back to the BP community once I’m more seasoned in real estate. I hope my new member post will reach the local Washington investors as well as investors in Seattle, Lynnwood, Bothell, Mill Creek, Everett, and numerous cities in the Evergreen State. I look forward to meeting you.
