Vrbo/Airbnb gets you a majority of coverage. I've got Booking.com and have had 2 bookings come through that platform in the span of a year. It's obviously not the same marketplace for STR's as the other two heavyweights.

Love the hanging chairs by the firepit. In your photo you say "(S’more supplies are not provided)."
Maybe you could provide that for a few extra $ per booking? I'd personally go buy a 6 month supply of chocolate/graham crackers/marshmallows and keep them in the storage closet and just have the cleaning crew throw a package out during the turnover. That would get you some pretty easy 5***** Reviews

If you're getting a loan to finance any portion of the project, figure out how you're going to pitch this to the bank. Also figure out the entitlement and regulatory environment where you're looking. I know some places seem very secluded, but still fall within county restrictions even if they're in the sticks. Don't forget to analyze competition. IF nobody is doing an STR remotely nearby, that may be a huge risk factor since the general traffic to that area is limited. Other than that, keep ideating and being creative and good luck.

@Nikki Stoddart I don't see many people who actually attended the IMN STR Conference in Austin back in June sharing their thoughts. SO, since I did attend that conference and made some very important connections I will say it was absolutely worth it. Maybe not for everyone on this forum to attend but for me it was great networking. Not everybody who is a player in this STR space is on BP and even less are forum junkies. If you go, I'll see you there.

More regulations hurting STR's on Hawaii. Not all that surprised, I hear the locals aren't really a big fan.

@Jack Cannon If you talk to the right people you'll probably get a lot more food for thought and information than a generic grade on AirDNA. What markets are you thinking? DM If you want to chat.

Check out Extenteam. I met with them at a VRMA conference here in Branson and they have VA's that are trained in vacation rental management.

Very much recommend Ring doorbell products. Then maybe a camera facing the driveway. More than that it starts to look like you've got some guest trust issues.

Quote from @Brandon Elliott-Pandey:
Quote from @William Beck:

I'll copy / paste from a former thread I replied to a year and a half ago with some updates.

I answered this question and analyzed vacation rentals almost every day for a few years in my former job. Based on that experience I would consider the following places to look.

My personal top picks:...

I was a Home Buyer Consultant for Vacation Rentals with Evolve Vacation Rental. I consulted thousands of people doing STR's all over the country.
