There were actually people at the event who I had exchanged online messages with but I didn't know who they were until the very end.

Nat, let's speak I am in the process of organizing the meet-ups to come. I bright name tags to the last meeting but arrived about 15 minutes late due to traffic. By the time I got there everyone was already engaged. We will use the name tags next time for sure.

Working on that. :) look out for a post from me soon. I am thinking the last Tuesday if every month and we can trade off meeting spots to help accommodate those on different areas. Still in the planning phase.

Hi there BP,

I am looking to get into the REI world by building a portfolio of rental properties. I have done quite a bit of homework on this topic and it seems to me the best way to get started is with a multi-family home.

My question(s) are as follow:

1. How does one fine these homes?

2. Do I necessarily need to live in the property?

3. I see many blogs talk about 30-year mortgages, but wouldn't it be better to get a 20-year or 15-year mortgage in order to pay it off faster (more positive cash-flow)?

Thanks for the time BP.

Hi Dexter, there are a ton of ways to find properties. It may not be as easy as one may think but it is possible. MLS, Wholesalers, Networking, Direct Mail and so much more. Let's connect and speak, happt to help in anyway I can.

Welcome to the family.

Tonight was great, I was only able to personally speak with a handful of you all but look forward to building relationships. If I wasn't able to hand you my business card please feel free to reach out to me and take a look at my BP profile.

Great stuff!

Thanks again @Carlos Rovira

@Karen Margrave That's a great idea, something regional. I couldn't get the initials to work when trying to Mention @J.M. ,it would be interested to organize something for the South East Region. Would have to get speakers and great content lined up but it's certainly possible.

I think the investors in your area are going to need a little more than that to be willing to take the time to train you. You're off to a good start though,  most people never make a post. I hope to see you doing huge things soon.

So far I have 18 people confirmed on this form: http://bit.ly/1I4EhwB

If you haven't RSVP'd, please do so.

Would it make sense to ask for a small donation ($5?) to buy food and beverage? I can set that up using paypal if necessary.

Let me know!

I would say first identify what your goals are as an investor, once you have that it will help understand how a 30K  start can help you achieve those goals. Like others have posted I wouldn't limit yourself to that one area unless you want to, and that is completely fine, you can always expand later. Although investing out of your area is harder when you first start out, it may be a good idea to look within a 2 hours drive from where you are. With 30K and 90K you are both in a better position than most of us starting off. Stay active on BP and you will sure to stumble across incredible information and direction.
