So, we asked our lawyer how us verbally authorizing would effect us and he did not think it would matter much because nothing was in writing and regardless they failed to inspect for over 2 months.

Last week the director of the Norfolk, VA HA told me that if a voucher holder tenant tells them that they vacated a property sometime in the past, the Housing Authority will go claw back rents paid, with zero proof from the tenant.

They're fun to look at, but really bad at providing advice on anything like flood insurance.The authority is the FEMA maps #1.#2 I would check with the person at planning and zoning in Dallas who is the flood zone expert.

I have done this before and section they told me it's your tenant do what you need to do.Of course I recommend checking with the Housing Authority or an attorney but what you're trying to accomplish sounds perfectly legal legit and moral for all parties.Wishing you the best of luck hope this helps

You MAY be able to get a "rebuild letter" from the zoning authority that essentially says if the property were destroyed, the owner may rebuild it as is, without conforming to zoning.

Then the rep sent me an e-doc to sign (that would have initiated the eval) that said, sure enough, in the document's second paragraph, that I would be authorizing them to hit my credit card with the $600 fee.
