Report Event

The Seoul Real Estate Investing Meetup, as posted about by the head guy himself, @Joshua Dorkin, (Link to Seoul Real Estate Investing Meetup Post), is proud to announce our next meetup - April 25, 1-3p, at the YoungSamSung Life Cafe in Hongdae.

Directions to the meetup:

https://www.evernote.com/l/AARhc78Da79HIJ0VXrYkrfD...

We've moved to a new location for April, and it's really nice:

(We get that whole space to ourselves)

Who are we:

Real Estate Investors and wannabe investors living in South Korea

Where do we invest:

EVERYWHERE including:

In the US (to name a few):

Jacksonville, Florida; Yuma, Arizona; Kansas City, Missouri; Indianapolis, Indiana; Illinois; Florida; Texas; Las Vegas, Nevada; Nebraska

In Korea:

Seoul, South Korea; Bundang, South Korea; Sokcho, South Korea; & one other place I can't remember.. ^^

Internationally:

the Philippines; Hong Kong; Ireland; Taiwan; England

Who's this meetup for:

Are you interested in investing, currently investing, or wanting to learn more about investing in the US, Korea or internationally?

Can you make it to Hongdae on April 25, from 1-3p?

Can you invest $5 (5,000 W) in your future for the chance to hear from great, experienced speakers and meet with other investors?

Then, we welcome you to attend!

What this meetup is not:

We are not a pitch forum. We're here to help each other out and to continue learning. If you have deals you'd like to discuss, that's okay. But we're not here to market any specific product or service.

SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER

The Australian Real Estate Dingo.. none other than Engelo Rumora!

In addition to being a blogger on BiggerPockets and founder of his own company, Ohio Cashflow, @Engelo Rumora, has done over 300 real estate deals and he'll be discussing how he got into real estate, the lessons he's learned, and the ins and outs, ups and downs, sideways and backwards of turnkey investing and rehabbing.

Engelo is going out of his way to help us out by agreeing to speak at 12:30am his time, so please make sure you arrive on time at the meetup or you'll miss out on both Engelo's wisdom as well as motivating charisma!

ALSO, SPEAKING WILL BE

@John Van Uytven, fellow co-organizer and founder of this meetup! He'll be talking about his future plans and he prepares to return to the US, as well as the investment deals he's done and is working on. He was telling me a little about a Mobile Home Park he was thinking about investing in and hopefully, he'll share some of the details with the group.

We'll also have, as always, a local Korean market specialist who will help educate us on what's happening in Korea.

SPECIAL THANKS TO THE BIGGER POCKETS COMMUNITY!

The fact that our meetup exists and continues to grow is in large part a testament to the power of BiggerPockets. John and I met through BP and we started meeting at a coffee shop in Itaewon. After a few meetings, we created a Meetup Page and were able to virtually bring on great speakers from BP such as:

Joshua Dorkin - Clip of his appearance

@Brandon TurnerClip

@Ali BooneClip

and now Engelo!

The community support has been fantastic and I love being able to report back on our victories in growing this meetup to now.. +180 members!

In fact, thanks to the support and our growth (okay.. and some tireless work by the organizers ^^), we were able to meet at this new location. We had to pass through a screening and they liked what they saw!

Our meetup definitely proves that real estate does not have to be a backyard sport - with the right contacts, the right people on the ground, the right networks, and the right knowhow, there's no reason to limit yourself or your opportunities.

There's always risk in overseas investing - whether you're doing what many members are doing and investing in the US while living in Korea or even being a foreigner and buying real estate in Korea.

But RISK is a good thing - without it, there would never be any opportunities for those who are willing to work just a little harder to make it happen.

Come join the fun! Get educated! Network with great people! And help us build this community!

SHOUT OUT TO OUR MEMBERS ON BP:

Co-organizer, @Ben Hauser

@Josh McNicoll

@Dustin Karns

@Robert E. Medlock II

@Sandra Roddy

@Paul Wurster

(If I left you off the list, sorry! But post so I know ^^) Also, if you're part of the group, be sure to colleague request me.

Also, if you're interested in making stronger connections with Korean investors or to learn about the Korean market, feel free to PM me. I'll be more than happy to share with you what I know and possibly set you up as a speaker.

Thanks and see you next Saturday on April 25!

(Oh.. and in case anyone wants to know more about me - I know how important credibility is for people you meet 'online' - here's a podcast interview I did with Marketing In Korea discussing my 17 years in Korea as well as the growth of this meetup)
