@Maurice Avery that is a vague question. The are many things to consider when buying a rental property such as location potential rents and purchase price.

I am looking for a place that could be used for Airbnb or long term rental. I've seen some new houses built in random areas. But looking from google map it look like maybe the flipper got in too early in a bad area. I've been looking in the doctor Phillips and winter park area. But they might be out of my price range for a good house. I was wondering if altamonte and Longwood too far out of range. Or are they up and coming areas.

@Maurice Avery Winter Park is a great area to invest in. I have a client that owns 7 rentals in WP and never has an issue renting them out. New construction in WP will not make any sense for ROI, but a decent townhouse or 1/2 duplex with a low HOA or a single family will make a nice investment.

@Erin Legler thank you for the advice. I was thinking about a townhouse. But I've been skeptical about them. I dont know how well they hold their value. And I'm not sure if their value appreciate at the same rate as a single family house.

Hi Maurice. Welcome to BiggerPockets!

Good luck in your plan of buying first house/ future rental property.  But before you take actions, I suggest that you study and learn first Real Estate investing.  BiggerPockets is a good tool to learn.  Here are some recommendations and advice I usually give to newbies in BP:

     1. Subscribe to the BiggerPockets Money and Rookie Podcasts

     2. Attend the FREE WEBINARS

     3. Attend a Meetup in Your Area (after lockdown)

     4. Purchase the Beginner Books: How to Invest in Real Estate, Set for Life, The House Hacking Strategy

     5. Peruse the forums! Ask questions! Answer Questions!

See you around the site!

@Craig curelop thank you for the tips. I've taken some of those steps. The ones that I haven't. I definitely plan on doing in the near future. I read every day and listen to bigger pockets all day at work.

I like the Waterford and Lake Nona areas as well. They're a little further out, but still not too far from everything. Lake Nona has a lot of new construction/development. I purchased a home in the Avalon Park area last year. I plan on turning this home into an investment property in the next two years. I chose this area since it's family oriented and the nearby schools are A rated. The rental market in the area is good as well.

@Breanna Mackroy thank you, I will take a look at those areas. I've been seeing some good prices in the Azalea Park area. Congratulations on your house. Have you looked into the airbnb market before the pandemic?
