I have a photo of one of my rehabs as my picture. It's not a stock picture, I didn't lift it from someplace else. I did the work and sold the house.

I prefer not to use my photo on the internet, and only do so in places where I have a high degree of control over the access.

It's not just a matter of friendliness or participation. For some of us it's a matter of security.

Gary - The rule of thumb I learned is that you should not mention "I" or "we" more than twice in your marketing piece. You should instead focus on benefits to the reader - the "you" statements. Take "I" out of it.

Here's to excellent marketing pieces for all! Alison

I have not bought from Econohomes but I have a contact there named Freddy Colon. Freddy has initiated contact with me several times on deals in my area, and has been responsive to my questions. I asked him directly about whether Econohomes had clear title to the properties in question and he gave a real answer, not a blow-off one (don't remember the exact details, I didn't buy the house). [EMAIL REMOVED].

As with everything, it's buyer beware and I'd have my settlement attorney take an independent look at title before moving forward on one of their deals.

Can you use Homepath for investment/rental property? I thought it was just for owner-occupied properties.

Hi Cheryl, I see you are in DC and I am too. May I ask which bank you use? I'm thinking about switching my business account and would like to give them a call.

Angie's List is probably as good a resource as any to pre-screen contractors. I would steer clear though of the daily offers - I bought one and had a terrible time with the contractor because he was overwhelmed with responses and couldn't cope. This was for work on my own house, of course :-).
