Welcome to BP. There is a wealth of information here but it can be overwhelming. there are many different ways to get into REI. I recommend reading the Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Real Estate investing found here as well as the Millionaire Real Estate Investor. These two can give you a good introduction to different ways to invest. That should get the ball rolling for you. The Podcasts are great also, I listen to them while driving to and from work.

Welcome @Chris Long to BP.  This is a great place for information and networking.  I recommend checking out the podcasts.  Great interviews and enjoyable to listen to.  If you are just starting out read the Beginner's guide recommended by @Account Closed.

There are also some REI meet ups in the STL area. check them out as well.

Depends on the type of property you are looking at.  I have used apartments.com as well as rentals.com.  I have also used Craig's list, they have a decent number of rentals.  I would start here.

@Grant Dade Welcome to BP.  I like your strategy.  Have you started selecting your criteria yet?  Student housing? Long Term, etc..  I recommend subscribing to the podcasts and soaking up as much as you can. I really like the Famous Four questions at the end where you get great tips on books to read.  You cant get too much education.
