@Chris Christensen you might look into blogging hear on BP. Do blogs on how-to for construction. As you learn , blog about that. I have thought about blogging about thing I learn on podcast and how they change me.

This is not a get rich quick scheme. Start listening to podcasts to get different ideas on strategies and how-tos. You may not have money, but figure out what you can bring to the deal? Maybe find the deal that you can find partners. You may get lower part of deal but you would get experience.

Just get started. If you do not know about home construction, volunteer in your community building home.
