I don't know if this thread is dead or not. But i'm currently using 99designs.com to run a design contest and getting some pretty awesome submissions. Just takes a bit of work to manage all the designers!

Hey fellow BP'ers!  So I just stumbled upon this website (shareyourcredit.com) and I'm wondering if anybody here has had any experience with it?  I'm debating giving it a try, but I'm pretty leary still and would love to hear if anybody has heard of or tried it.  To sum it up, it's basically a company that tries to help individuals with low credit scores by matching them with people that have good credit scores.  They then "piggyback" on your credit for 1-2 months.  Your credit history then becomes their credit history on the accounts they are added as an authorized user.  The person with the good credit is paid monthly.  I have scoured the internet trying to find more information on this process and this company in particular, but haven't really learned anything other than what they say on their site.  I would love to hear thoughts on this.  There doesn't seem to be any risk as the person piggybacking does not have any of your financial information..not even your name.  It seems like it could possibly be some nice passive income to help save up for my real estate investing!

Look forward to hearing your opinions! :)

I wouldn't touch that website. The photos they used of their "customers" are stock photos from a few different sites, you can just reverse google the photos and find this out quickly.

Other than that, you truly cannot find any information about them. Which, on the flip side, if something paid you $2,000 per month for doing literally nothing but sharing, wouldn't their be reviews, ect on it? haha

Stop treating them like people. Pets are animals not human family members and should never take priory when making real life decisions. This is one of the primary reasons I do not allow pets. The owners are generally unrealistic in their expectations and practices in regards to respecting someone else's property.

I personally would never consider bringing a animal into some one else's property to live.

Sometimes things happen and you have a pet that you acquired during a time in which you did own a home then had to leave that home due to circumstances out of your control (ex: moving jobs, family situation, ect). This would be a case where you need a place to live and have an animal that has been in the family you wouldn't want to get rid of it. I would say that's an unfair assumption of renters with animals.

Plus, down here especially, If you say no pets across the board you're losing a large portion of your pool of tenants.

I currently have a house with an FHA loan. I've noticed two downsides:

One - the PMI is required for the life of the loan, no matter what you pay on the loan unless you refinance.

Two - the house basically has to be in mint condition or the appraiser will will state that and the bank will back out, even if it's so simple as it needs a new hot water heater.

And to speak on the primary residence, a year minimum, and then you can rent it out.

True, I would completely agree. Yet, I cannot find anything online for the law stating it's a problem. However, I've found quite a few disputes in regards to it that were decided in favor of the potential tenant. So, I would just be careful is all.

Thanks everyone. I had him at a townhouse complex when I loved with my brother and they had all his paperwork and nothing was an issue.  I wish I could buy a house but my girlfriend is trying to repair her credit at the moment and with just my income I can't get approved. I really appreciate all the advice and have tried a lot of the above techniques.  Just gotta stay with it that's all.

Hey, It depends on your income too, but it's not terribly hard to get a decent house. I used an FHA loan on a house and easily am able to afford it, and just signed it with my credit along which was about 690 when we closed. (Hint I don't make a ton of money either)

It's all about finding the right lender and the right location, we moved about 30 minutes outside of my ideal location but the house price was literally 1/3rd what we would have paid otherwise.

Why not find a good home for the dog with someone that already owns their own home. It's only a dog, your personal life should be placed as a higher priority.

Greg, I'm sorry, but as a rescue dog owner myself I would never dream of just giving the dog away because i was finding a hard time to get a rental. If anything, it would make me willing to search harder, and pay a little extra. Once you've had a dog for even a few weeks they're part of the family and giving them up unless absolutely necessary is not in the question.

But hey, everyone has opinions. (:

I would be interested in this, however, i feel under some type of law it would be illegal or widely open to lawsuits.

Age Discrimination

The federal Fair Housing Acts do not expressly ban discrimination based on age. Nevertheless, it is definitely forbidden under the broader prohibition against discrimination on the basis of familial status.

It doesn't look to say it directly, but implies it through the family section.
