@Nikki Jacob , check out The Book On Flipping Houses by J Scott. That's a really good place to start, or was for me anyways.

You can also check out BiggerPockets Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Real Estate Investing.

Also there is

by our very own @Brandon Turner , do make sure you change the viewing settings to 720p so you can enjoy all that his beard has to offer.

Also, search the forums. Dollars to Donuts (who says that anymore?) that you're not the first to say this or feel this way.

Hope this helps a bit.

Hey @M Reason ! Welcome to BP!

I don't know if "What is the First Thing an Aspiring Real Estate Investor Should do?" will be of any help but I found it to be a good read.

I know this seems kinda cliché?d and I apologize for that.

I guess what I'm looking for is someone I can bounce ideas off of. Someone I can ask a ton of questions, most of which may seem pretty stupid to you. Someone I can in turn help out as well. I'm a bit of a computer nerd and an Excel junkie. Plus I spent about 4 years hunting down people for Rent-A-Center (I was the Repo guy) so I'm fairly decent at doing that. I'm also trying to find someone that doesn't want thousands of dollars upfront just to speak with me. I refuse to shell out money upfront and find out that we aren't a compatible match. I am MORE then willing to split any deals I do with their help. I'm looking at Flipping and Buy & Holds but I'm keeping an open mind to other options as well.

I do work a full time job. 3:30 pm to Midnight Monday through Friday, so that limits my afternoon time but I'm not afraid to get dirty.

I'd like someone local to me but I am not limited to that. I know how to use Skype and Google Hangouts. Plus we got this wonderful new invention called E-Mail. It's amazing. Have you tried it yet? (Sarcastic humor there)

I do expect to get a bunch of "How to Find a Mentor" links in response to this post, which I will gladly accept. I do love to read and I'm ready to absorb all the info I can get.

Again, cliché?d but I appreciate the help and any suggestions you guys/gals are willing to throw my way.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you put down for your search criteria or was it just for FSBOs?

@Ethan Atkinson That is one heck of a beard you got going on there and don't feel bad. I had to trim mine a little myself. I had these strange mustache hairs that were growing upward and into my nose instead of downward.

Here's my Nov 25th update pic:

Ignore the bewildered look on my face. That's what is normally there.

And @Brandon Turner , with the mention in Podcast 45 I'm surprised that we haven't had a better response.

I flagged it. Don't know if it will do any good but it's the best I can offer from my chair here in SC.

@Robert Ruiz Now that it's been some months, have you gotten an answer to this? I'm curious as well.

@Brandon Turner We got a response! No pic though.

@William R. would it be rude to say "Pic or it didn't happen?" ;)

PS: This is also shameless bumping of the post.
