This is horrifically off topic from Real Estate but I was curious as to who else was participating in "No Shave November".

Here is my lovely pic at Day 13 and it's driving me CRAZY!

Feel free to share your pics. Also anyone that is participating, have you found that it affects your deals any or your dealings with people?

Edit: It doesn't show up in the Recent Forums Postings, sad now. Maybe I should just bug @Brandon Turner about how his is going...

I had wished I had found this site before I had gone to my RPDP 3 day seminar. At the time I had went all I knew was what I had read in Rich Dad Poor Dad. Yes, there were people there that thought they had wasted their money. I personally don't think I did. I was able to pull out enough info to know what direction to head in when I got out to do more research / homework.

If I had known about this site then, I would have saved my money. But considering I found this site a LOT later, and by accident (it never once appeared in my Google searches), I don't feel like I wasted my time there. I went no further than the 3-day mind you. I had a suspicion that the rest was a scam. But I walked in with the thought that I would pull something useful from this and I was going to drink all of the free coffee they had to offer.

Please keep in mind that at that time I had already lost my job and was about the lose everything else. I was freaking out. I was having panic attacks. I was desperate. Desperation makes people do really stupid things. (On a positive note, I did survive that rough patch in my life and I'm much better now.)

So I will admit @J Scott that I fell for the marketing scam to do the 3 days in the first place. We all make mistakes. It's how we learn. And yes, I do realize that I'm much better off now with BP and with your "The Book on Flipping Houses" and I am very thankful that I accidently came across BP.

PS: I ramble. ;)

Welcome @Frank Davis !

Might I suggest The BiggerPockets Real Estate Podcast. It has a ton of great information that you can use and it's real easy to listen to in your free time. (I like to listen to it while working at my j.o.b.)

I just started to read The BiggerPockets Book on Flipping Houses myself. I am engrossed into it. In fact as soon as I finish this posting I am going to pick it up and read more.

Peruse the forums and don't be afraid to use that Search box in the corner. I have asked a lot of what I consider to be "dumb questions" because I don't know this stuff, and when I don't know, I ask but the people on here have been great in answering my questions and so far I haven't been made fun of.

Just keep engaging in conversations and remember to set up your Keyword Alerts to keep you updated on things that are important to you or happen in your neck of the woods.

Some counties have "crime maps" on their sites. It's the areas that are really colored in that you want to avoid. I'd like to expand on what @Bill Gulley said, it's an area you don't want to live in if you had the choice. I add that because sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to survive and I've lived in some scary places I never want to see again.

PS: I am very curious as to what @Thomas Mitchell was going to post.

I can't seem to find anything on this either. I have seen that you can tag people in forum posts they are not already a part of if they are in your colleagues list.

Lets say I don't have enough to make a $50 donation today. Could I make a weekly donation of $5 and have it add up over time (and receive my Donor badge) or would it be in my best interest to save up the lump sum first and then donate?

Welcome @Hassan Johnson ! I just recently joined up here myself and let me tell ya, the information is abundant and The BiggerPockets Real Estate Podcast is not something to miss. While #42 was awesome (as well as being the best number ever <scifi geeks, hint hint>) the rest are nothing to shake a stick at. Well, unless it's a really big stick and it has fire ants on it and a nail sticking out of the end and possibly being swung around by an angry ugly troll that is currently taking orders from you... then maybe.

Do not be afraid to use that Search feature and / or post your own questions. Even when I post late at night like now, the responses are usually pretty darn quick.

Stay in touch and add a pic! It can even be scary like mine. ;)

@Bryan L. , the IRS defines "Excise Tax" as taxes paid when purchases are made on a specific good, such as gasoline. Excise taxes are often included in the price of the product. There are also excise taxes on activities, such as on wagering or on highway usage by trucks. Excise Tax has several general excise tax programs. One of the major components of the excise program is motor fuel.

I had never heard of it either and had to Google it. Perhaps it's a Washington thing?
