Years ago my company ran a crew of installers for several of the chain and local satellites sales companies, we always did very neat and complete jobs.  The satellites have cut most of the install pay to less than half of what it was and thus, garbage installs and guys having to do more to make the same or less in pay, exact reason I got out of that business.

What I recommend to my PM and owners is to always require a LOP ( letter of permission ) before a tenant can have a satellite installed.  In that LOP you specify exactly where dishes can and cant be installed, wiring etc.

Warn tenant that if they go ahead without it, they are responsible for removal/damages etc.

They sell a handheld for pretty cheap that has the ability to be attached to a drill, makes cleaning smaller pipes from sinks etc a real breeze.

As far as using the larger powered units for main lines, you want to be very careful as they can damage older lines and or get tangled in them causing you some serious expenses.

There are several local REI groups in Buffalo I know of off the top of my head. One is the BP group that meets monthly, do a search on here for its info, the other is WNY REI that also meets once a month with speakers, that one a google search should find for you.

@Randy Johnsonman are you in for a surprise if you come back to visit.  Buffalo has had more development / resurgence in the past 5 years then in my entire life living here.  Something we have never been able to say but I am proud to now,  Buffalo is booming.  Property demands and values are soaring all over the place,  granted many areas have a ways to go, but those are the deals you can still afford and get in early on to cash out.

Hey Remy great to hear.  I havent ventured into the falls market as of yet due to plenty still available in Buffalo and surrounding area.  I have been starting to do a couple ML searches though and keeping tabs.

Good luck in the new venture.
