I have been a rehab GC for 25+ years now and always laid my own carpet up until the past couple.  I now only do it for a single room/hall,  if more then that, its cheaper and faster to let my sub do it while I get other stuff done.  Saves the knees and back as well.

You should always blow out all the water lines with a small compressor.  Water lines run up and down hill through walls and ceilings, just opening faucets will get most of the water out but its these low spots that will hold water, freeze and split the pipes.

If you are unsure of how to do all this, much cheaper to hire a pro then open walls and ceilings to fix broken pipes down the road.

Hey Daniel welcome to BP.  As most have already discussed here, Buffalo market varies greatly sometimes block by block, sometimes even street by street.  Best to talk to some seasoned investors and then figure out exactly what areas fit your budget and level of risk.

I would agree with posts above.  If you move farther into Sloan, its hit and miss, probably a little farther then you would want to be from Canisius though.
