@Enriques Reyes Hey man, let me know if you have any questions about the Hampton Roads market. It's definitely a great area to invest. I bought my first property with my VA loan which is perfect if you're open to a house hack.

@Phillip Amaechi Hey Phillip, all Norfolk zip codes are good as long as it’s a good deal. I’ve found Ocean View area specifically to be good right now, but I also haven’t seen any parts of Norfolk that I would say aren’t good.

@Tanner Ray There’s a few different ones actually. I’m not sure if they’re all meeting again yet but some to look into are Tidewater Real Estate Investors Group, Peninsula Real Estate Investors Association, Hampton Roads Landlord Association, Peninsula Landlords Association. There’s also other meetups that happen too. The best place to find out about them other than here on Bigger Pockets are in local real estate Facebook groups and if you download the app Meetup on your phone there’s a ton of local real estate groups that aren’t really full on associations but they do host meetups once in a while. Some have even had people offer you to come out to flips and wholesale deals they have going on and walk the group through what’s going on at the project.

@Tanner Ray

Some of my favorites that I’ve read are:

Set for Life by Scott Trench (this is probably my number 1 recommended book for anyone to build a stable financial foundation)

Think and Grow Rich

The House Hacking Strategy by Craig Curelop

the Real book of real estate by robert kiyosaki

the millionaire real estate investor

good to great

investing in real estate with no and low money down

rich dads Cashflow quadrant

Sell It Like Serhant (more for agents but anyone who is selling anything would benefit)

@Tanner Ray Hey Tanner! I’m an agent in the area and building my investment portfolio. What area of law are you planning on getting into? I have a ton of business and real estate books I can recommend when I get home I’ll look back at my book shelf and see. Have you read any yet that you liked?
