I don't know of any programs, but i myself have been looking at some of the property on the MLS with the hope of possibility Brrring a few duplexes. But I've wondered the same thing, if a bank would refinance them one I fix them.

@Shawn Norville So after some research and consideration I decided to go meet with my current accountant to see what his background with real estate business and taxes are. He actually was quite knowledgeable and seem to have a good grasp of the different tax laws related to real estate were. So I ended up deciding at least for now to stick with him. I do appreciate the recommendations I recieved from everyone here on BP.

@Stephen Chatto thank you, I will definately reach out once closer to that point of needing one. @Gary Barella the city is rough, thats for sure. However there are still good people in the city who need housing. Some areas are better than others that is for sure, some areas are not safe at all, but some prices are low and rents are similar to neighboring towns with much high prices/taxes, from what I see. Its just like any city, goods and bads, highs and lows.

So this thread is great. I'm right next store in Hamilton, but looking in the city to get started with Multi Family properties, prices and taxes are super low compared to Hamilton. I will definitely be reaching out to a few of you when I'm closer to buying Especially @Matt Faircloth. Right now this is all good to know to get started on my research. However, the city makes me nervous as if my first one is a dud it could stunt my portfolio growth for a while if I end up needing to make a ton of repairs or evictions. Also can anyone recommend a good property manager in the area? It seems important yet I only noticed one post about it and it was all negative. Thanks
