Hi @Daniel Devine. Welcome to BP. You'll find everything you could want or need in your new business, and you're already off to a great start. I know Worcester quite well, and own rentals south and west of the city. Many of the weekly webinars with Brandon are especially poignant as well, so don't hesitate to sign up for any that look interesting. And you'll meet many people in our area with many of the same goals.  Good Luck!

Everything will balance out in the end. If you know the area "isn't super great" in your own words, and you're hesitant to live there yourself, and schools are entering state receivership, and crime is, well . . . , and rents in general run among the cheapest in MA, then consider what kind of tenant families you will most likely be "married to" while owning property there and decide if it's worth the time and money and effort in the first place.  Good Luck! I personally own rentals within 10 miles either side of Southbridge, but have purposely avoided SB for many years.

This is the right place. such a wealth of knowledge here. Learn at your own pace, and be a sponge. It never ends. I'm near Worcester, and focusing on single family rentals, particularly south and west of the city. Good Luck! 

Welcome to BP, Jason.  All the answers and education are here for sure.  Worcester is a great place to start if you know the city well and can deal with the wide variations within short distances. I personally feel that Webster MA is definitely up and coming, but prices in general have skyrocketed there in just the past year. Good Luck!

 Mark, you might want to keep an eye on Webster, MA area as well. Definitely up and coming, but be aware that prices have increased dramatically there just in the past year. Great for flips or buy & hold, with spring just a few months away. Webster Lake remains a huge draw and the town itself has a lot to offer.

Welcome to BP and keep up the good work. This is THE place for learning. I'm in Worcester area and always searching for good value,  particularly in areas south and west of the city.  

You're "right on" there Cecilia. My son is licensed and lives and works in Boston. Not for me at all. I do much better beating the bushes in and around Worcester, own some properties south of Worcester, and just closed today on one in the Brookfields that looks promising to me.  At some point, the voice of reason must prevail, and Boston has just become out of reach.

 I'm currently active in and around Worcester. For starters, don't even think of investing in Worcester from your computer. Sure always check for comps and the like, but you'll find huge differences within a very short distance. Get to know the WHOLE city and area very well first. My own personal opinion is that Vernon Hill in general is not the greatest neighborhood to get started in, but I know there are exceptions to every rule.  Good Luck!
