Jared, I'd be interested if you got any referrals for a CPA that is experienced in REI, especially relating to tax planning.

Welcome to another Minnesotan. I'm in the Twin Cities, and also am getting started. Go ahead and reach out to me if you like. I'm not sure if there are any REI groups or meetings up your way, maybe Princeton or Cambridge? If not, come on down and start joining some here in the cities. I have a few on my calendar for this week that I can share, just PM or email me directly.

I second that advice Chris.   Meetings are going to give you an education, and connections.  You'll see and hear what's going on, and whats going around.  There are some meetings this week, if you are still looking PM me and I'll be happy to bring you with to those that I'm going to.

I'm pretty new too, but getting my feet wetter.   Some good advice I've been trying to implement, is connect with one experienced person and one newer person each week.   I'm finding it to be a good way to make sure I'm making connections.

I'm new to BiggerPockets, and darn glad I found it!  

For years I have watched without investing in real estate, and now that I have semi-retired from business I can take the time to learn and get started with my 'encore career'.  I have recently made an offer on an 8-plex to buy and hold.  I'm also hoping to find or form partnerships, to buy and flip properties locally that I could provide some funding and learn from.  

I don't know if I'll make it through all of the podcasts, but they are a fantastic source of info.  It really is almost like having a mentor.   The forums are very insightful, and the marketplace too.  I found the Rental Property Calculator awesome, enough so that I subscribed to the Pro membership.

I hope to meet other like-minded investors and wealth-builders, who take conservative managed risks, and hopefully I can soon start contributing to the community too!
