I second the Google Voice # and if you are looking for a fax service, Unity Fax is $0.99 cents a month.  It's more if you send/receive a facsimile, but for a dollar a month....why not? I have it for my company and use if more often for non business related things.

As for email - consider outsourcing that too. I use Zoho for one of my businesses, for $10.00 / mo.  All of this just helps keep your correspondence organized.

I hope that helps.

@Bruce Scannell

Disclaimer -- I do not have two LLCs for holding and management. I do have an LLC that is REI UNrelated and have my holdings in my name.

There is a lot going on in your question and I think the KISS Principal applies here. There are many threads on how LLC's, while they provide some protection, are not a firewall of separation. If we look at what you are trying to do, you are trying to protect your assets in your LLC in another LLC that you own with your wife that is secured within the both of your names. Sound about right?

From what you have told us you are seeking legal advice (legal protection) from your CPA. You may consider sitting down with an attorney for an hour for another perspective. My attorney has in house CPA's. My CPA is in a different state all together - and when the tough questions come up, I ask everyone I can in my network.

I hope that helps.

I have not - but the E-Myth Revisited covers systems in business pretty extensively.

Thanks for the feedback @A Schweda.

The irony that I own a rental in Henderson and am from Western NY does not escape me.  Welcome to BP!!

Unfortunately I cannot refer anyone as I self manage just south of Rochester.  But one thing I learned in the podcasts was that everyone follows someone.  Meaning -- if you want to find out who hangs drywall the best, you call painter.

In your case -- consider finding some flippers or real estate agents perhaps?

I hope that helps.

Thank you both for taking the time to reply.

@Bob B. - thank you also for sharing your experience.  After speaking with my NY Mason, reading your post and speaking with a neighbor in my neighborhood -- I have decided not to seal the brick.  Just do the re-pointing.

Thanks again to the both of you for sharing your experiences.

All the best!

@John Yanko verdict is in for me -- do NOT seal your brick.  I will follow up in my post.  But your situation is well beyond my experience.  I will follow this thread.  It looks like you've got some solid advice.  With that said -- one of the podcasts (late in the 40's) mentioned that everyone follows someone -- so that if you want to know who a good drywall hanger is -- ask a painter.

So, who follows the brick layer or mason? Call a few of those companies or trades and ask them who the good masons are in your area. I know you are looking for engineers at this point, but thought it may be worth mentioning.

I hope that helps.
