Hi @Elliott Milek, appreciate the offer but it looks like @Sung Kim is the one looking for an accountant. I'm very happy with mine :)

I use Philip Milman of Milman & Company - they work with a number of investors I know in Toronto, and were referred to me by an investor.

George and Peter at BDO are renowned, but their fees are quite high (I recall my consult was $500+) and I am simply not at that level of sophistication to justify the fees. Call me old-school, but I also like meeting my accountant face to face :)

For lawyers, I use a firm that does mobile signing via iPad which is quite neat as they can come in the evenings to your home or office which saves a ton of time. PM me if you would like details as I'm not sure what we're allowed to post publicly.

Hi Jessica, here are the folks I work with and recommend them - rest assured I don’t make a dime off this :)

Mortgage - Vine group - boutique firm with a focus on investors. They are presenting an intriguing new mortgage product with an interest-only component at a Meetup I’m a regular at in case you happen to be free. BP will not allow numbers and e-mails to be posted outside marketplace but you can check out Chris Darwiche at vinegroup.ca

Meetup:

Real Estate Lawyer - there’s a team and Shelley Himes, Senior Law Clerk can direct you to the appropriate contact.

They do mobile signing via iPad and it’s amazing - no more going to a lawyer’s office unless you want to! :)

Will follow as I am curious about other recommendations!

Hi folks, I'm late to the party but glad to see a lot of folks active downtown! I'm in King West and have a triplex on the west end, and the meetups really spurred me to take action in a supportive environment.

I'm a regular at this meetup at Bloor-Yonge and it's more beginner-friendly with people interested investing in Toronto proper - there's one next Thursday on financing (come say hi if you attend!):

There's also this one which generally has more experienced folks investing all over GTA/Ontario:

Both usually involve a trip to the pub after :) Friendly people in both!

I can't join the Starbucks one as I have dragon boat practice on Tuesdays, but hope to make the next one!

@Larry Smet apologies but I’ll be missing the Meetup again - still stuck at the office! Have a terrific one and hope to make it out next month!

Welcome!

Ming’s too modest and Philip is right - the Meetup is terrific and I try to go every month :) They bring in a lot of guest speakers and last month with a mortgage expert speaking about the financing changes.

I think the next one is about design and construction management - right up your alley!

Thanks @Jay Styles, Naborly looks very thorough and great report format! Will give it a try next time.

I’m sorry to miss this tonight but am coming down with something, and my brain is yelling at me to go home and rest up :( My friend Chris might swing by, and I hope I can make it to the next one!!

Thanks for organizing Larry! I’ve been meaning to attend but usually ran into scheduling conflicts, so I’m looking forward to my first one!

@Joanne M. I suspect they don't release a schedule so people don't just show up only for the keynotes. I can only stay until 2:30 or so, and plan to be there for the keynotes then wander around the sales floor (I assume there's some sort of booth setup), grab a bite and network with BiggerPockets folks :)
