Hello BiggerPockets,

I was recently speaking to an investor and as the conversation went on he said "I wish I could have started when I was your age". I am a 20 year old with a passion for real estate investing and want to know where would you be if you had started at age 20 and what would you say to your younger self to make them take the leap??

I hope these answers can be inspiring to other young investors as well!

@Eli Abramovitz Funny seeing you here! Over the last year or so I've been connecting with people in both Portland and Bozeman and it's been great! BiggerPockets is a great resource. There is also a meet up group called RareBird in Portland that might be worth checking out. And the BiggerPockets Real Estate Podcast and Money Podcast are excellent.

Hey @Dave Passey thank you for the reply as well!

All the investors I've spoken to have said something along those lines. "I wish I would have started at your age, compound interest is a magical thing and time is the one variable that we can't control". Haha I will have to go back to my high school math teachers and tell them that I don't think compound interest is dumb anymore. 

Like I said in the post be before I will be sitting down and really analyzing what I want to do and create that road map. 

Also I'm going to school is Bozeman Go Cats, but I have a log cabin that my family and I built when I was 5 in Polson MT that I spend a lot of time at. So I won't be opposed to staying in Montana for the summer.

@Mathew Wray Hey Mathew thank you for the reply! I am currently majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a possibly business minor. I want learn more about deal analysis, property management and project management. I have put a chunk of time in my schedule this week to answer those questions in more detail and I will keep you guys posted.

Hello everyone! 

My name is Gage Halverson and I'm currently finishing up my first semester of college in Montana and I'm starting to think about summer plans. I know I will be doing some handy man jobs over summer.
