This is a chance for investors in the Mon Valley Area to gather together and discuss our investment projects, struggles, wins and anything else that pertains to local real estate investing in the Mon-Valley Area. Depending on the interest I will adjust the meeting location but for now I planned to meet at the Starbucks in Belle Vernon, PA the address is as follows:

Come out and discuss Real Estate!

You can try Walter MacFann. He manages a lot of rentals in the Mon Valley.

I would tell myself continue to learn something new every day about investing in RE, network as much as possible, and keep investing and never stop no matter how hard it gets sometimes.

I began investing when I was about 24 years old.  I purchased two rental properties over two years and was managing them myself however, I was worried more about my career (Civil Engineer) and took a job out of state.  It made it difficult for me to manage so I decided to sell them and give up on the idea.  Today I wish that I would have never sold those two properties and continued to invest.  Who knows how many I would have today.

Good Luck with your investing career and you are diffenitly plugged into a great place.  I wish that BiggerPockets was around when I was just starting out.

Now that the holidays are behind us, I am looking to start the local meet-up back up.  This is a chance for investors in the local area to gather together and discuss our investment projects, struggles, wins and anything else that pertains to local real estate investing in the Mon-Valley Area. Depending on the interest I will adjust the meeting location but for now I planned to meet at the Starbucks in Belle Vernon, PA the address is as follows:

Come out, have a coffee with us.

@Ryan Bolt, I am in the same situation as you.  I too am struggling to grow my business as I have a well-paying job that allows me to save but still not able to acquire properties any faster than 12 months/property.  I am interested to get the feedback from others in regards to this same situation.  Good luck to you and hope that you get the information you need to build a prosporus business.

I would agree with @Brian Adzadi, if you are not very handy then I would get something that doesn't require a significant amount of work.  I also agree with starting in your hometown until you get comfortable as a landlord.

Remember, most peoples biggest expense is there housing.  You are starting off way better than most by house hacking.  If you continue to save the money that you would be spending on housing you will be ready to invest in Pittsburgh before you know it.  Good luck, and look forward to seeing your success posted here on Bigger Pockets.
