Speaking from personal experience, "First Time Flippers" on the DIY Network is probably one of the more realistic ones. They basically just film what people do and the mistakes they make so you can see what actually happens when regular people try to flip.

Disclaimer: I do casting for them, but we really do only cast first timers.

Hi Amanda, I inherited a property in Patchogue that my parents had bought 20 years ago. I'm sure it's different now, but even back then the taxes were high. They decided to purchase a residential and commercial property in hopes of finding long term tenants for the shops. We have a bookstore and barber-shop downstairs and an apartment upstairs. They took the time to find good tenants for the commercial shops and they've been there for 20 years now! Maybe look for a mixed use property!
