@Marcus Auerbach we own another business that isn’t as easily moved. But this is kind of what we are thinking as well. Just less stuff holding us here. Thanks!

@Corina Eufinger

Thank you! The short term rentals I was thinking of purchasing later. You hit the nail on the head with what I was thinking. I just feel like it keeps getting harder and harder, less people have good paying jobs and everyone complains of the rent prices now, and everything keeps going up.

@Bill Brandt

I was considering selling and investing in Florida (emerald coast), or South Carolina, more in short term vacation rentals.

I manage my own properties here, and it has not been terrible. The taxes keep going up and the population keeps declining, more and more of the well paying jobs in factories and such are closing. The state extended the Restrictions on evictions due to covid. It seems nothing positive is drawing anyone to the areas (it is in rural areas so neighborhoods aren’t as well defined as good/bad.

I haven’t ran the numbers on everything yet, just was looking if anyone else is selling and their reasons behind it.

Illinois just continues to seem to be a sinking hole. I own 4 single family properties in central Illinois. With the real estate market in such a good position I’m considering selling off our rentals. Anyone else doing the same? Or should I hold them. I was considering selling and looking for short term rentals out of state, or go to a multi-plex instead of multiple rentals.

Thanks everyone, I just couldn’t find if there was anything more needed. I don’t know that they smoked in there or not...I would hope not with a newborn baby in there. But didn’t want any risk to the next person. Thanks!

Our tenant was arrested for meth, selling and distribution, among other things. My question is: what do I need to do to ensure we make the house safe for the next tenant. They did not have a meth lab, and this is all I’m finding about cleanup. I do not know if he was using or his girlfriend. She denies even knowing he was selling meth, but everyone in the neighborhood knew he was selling something. I’m located in Illinois, and I found meth lab cleanup guidelines, but nothing for them having it in the home, or in the event they were smoking it in the home.

I do know that they had it on the washer and dryer and used at least the laundry room for weighing and selling.
