The title states, "Republicans think they won?" Hmm, there were two Governor races and Republicans won both of them. Should Republicans think they lost? You can bet the farm that if both of the races were won by Democrats, they would be crowing about winning. So what's the difference?

As for the other subject, whether they were explorer's, people escaping religious persecution or even entreprenuers, people CAME to this country for a variety of reasons.

But the establishing of an Independent Government is a totally different subject. I used an incorrect phrase when I said 'the founding fathers came here', I should have said, 'the founding fathers wanted to establish here'... The United States was under pretty much British Rule during the 1500's, 1600's and most of the 1700's, thus the founding fathers knew what THEY DID NOT WANT. THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WANTED, freedom and Liberty, mostly from government intrusion.

But Libs want protection from the BIG, BAD Corporations!! They do such horrible things as create jobs, create investments, create new products and more. You will answer me on a computer built by a big, bad corporation. You drive a car made by a big, bad corporation. You watch football on a TV made by a big, bad corporation. You live in a house made with lumber cut down by a big, bad corporation. You burn crude oil in a variety of forms, drilled out of the ground by a big, bad corporation.

Unless you live in a cave, wear animal skin for clothes and only eat wild berries, don't give me the "big, bad corporation is evil" excuse. Our lives are what they are today because of what corporations create, make, market, sell and service. Are there poorly run corporations? Yes, just like there are poorly run families. There are laws on what corporations can and cannot do, but overall, they do a LOT MORE good for society than bad.

Obamamanians! Very entertaining to watch. They actually believe that government is the answer to societal ills! That is like letting the fox guard the hen house! Our Founding Fathers knew that government was the problem in England, Scotland, France and other Western European countries, so they came here and established a LIMITED power government. That lasted for about 2 or 3 presidents, and then those in power started to really enjoy the power, and they did everything they could to keep that power.

People who think Obama cares about the common American citizen had better wake up. All he cares about is having power!

Here is the EXACT quote, opening an article in our local newspaper, "The Durango Herald", on Saturday, October 31, 2009.

"Businesses and agencies in Southwest Colorado reported creating 82 jobs with $63 million in funding from the federal stimulus bill through mid-October."

http://durangoherald.com/sections/News/2009/10/31/Stimulus_helps_Southwest_Colorado/

I am curious, how many jobs could YOU create with $63 million?

And people still believe that the government is the answer to societies ills, especially the Economy and Health Care! Unbelievable that people really think that!!

People who think man has "evolved" into some sort of Peace Seeking being are just deceiving themselves.

Just look at yourself. Have you ever had a tenant damage a property? Have you ever been cut off while driving? Have you ever had a fight with a spouse? a child? a parent? a co-worker?

The ONLY thing keeping civility is the CONSEQUENCE of our actions. It is NOT man's desire for peace and if you think so, you are delusional. Man has NEVER desired peace, man desires CONQUEST, DISCOVERY, ADVENTURE, DANGER, EXCITEMENT, EXPLORATION, etc... Why did man go to the moon? It certainly wasn't for peace or economic gain or to improve society. It was to BEAT THE RUSSIANS, for conquest, exploration and even to help develop better WEAPONS of Mass Destruction.

Go back through history, the Chinese, the Romans, the British, etc... It is all about conquest and taking over someone else.

Why do people go to auto races? To see WRECKS. Very Peaceful.

Why do people LOVE football? They want to see HARD hits. Very Peaceful.

Let's go to a High School Campus. At one end, let's have two guys playing chess on a Card table. At the other end of the campus, let's have two guys start a fight. Which one will draw a crowd?

Let's face the FACTS. Man is a VIOLENT, SELFISH, GREEDY and MEAN animal!

When I say PEACE is overrated, I mean that man is incapable of obtaining it. A few men, here and there, can be peaceful, but as a whole, PEACE IS UNOBTAINABLE for man in general. Therefore, we create systems that try to contain the violence as much as possible. Laws, governments, societies are instituted so that some semblance of civility can be obtained. But man is basically EVIL and therefore, PEACE is not possible.

PEACE is over rated. The Nobel Peace Prize value just dropped to somewhere between slime and sludge.

Distortion of history? PLEASE!

What is distorted about the Dow Jones reaching 14,000 while W Bush was in office? A good investor cashed out before it dropped below 13,000, not a bad investment. The Dow Jones was 8,279 on January 20, 2009. Not exactly half!

What is distorted about no attacks on US Soil? IT is just a FACT.

You want to talk Quagmire, look at Afghanistan today, it makes Iraq look like a kindergarten playground. And what did Obama run on, "We need to do more in Afghanistan".

Let's face it, Obama doesn't have a clue about what he is doing! If you can't see that, there is nothing I can say to change your mind.

You know what the main problem is, there is no LTV for America to borrow money. It would be akin to a homeowner being upside down and borrowing more money to pay off the difference!

I heard a pundit put it this way, the five voters in Norway for the Nobel Peace Prize ask this question, "Who has screwed over America the most in the past 12 months?", and award them the Nobel Peace Prize, because as we all know, America is nothing but a bully, a Warmonger.

You talk about motivation for the Islamic Jihadists, now they can bomb a Nobel Peace Prize winner.

The Nobel voters have now put Obama in the same category as Mother Teresa, the International Red Cross, Nelson Mandela, President Theodore Roosevelt, President Woodrow Wilson and Martin Luther King, Jr. All I can say is "WOW"! That's like putting me in the same category as Rich Weese! I don't think so!

To get $1,000 rent on a piece of property that is less than 10 years old, here is what I have actually done.

In Fort Worth, Texas, I paid $103,000 for a house and get $1,050 rent. My property taxes for 2008 were 3,318 and insurance was 471.00.

In Southern California, I have a house that I am receiving $1,100 a month for and August Comps are $350,000 to $375,000. Taxes would be 3,500 to 3,700 and my insurance is 800 a year.

Here in SW Colorado, the Durango area, to get $1,000 rent, I would need to buy a 1,000 to 1,200 square foot home for 250,000 to 300,000.

I have an investor friend who is buying Riverside, California homes for 50,000 to 60,000 and renting for $1,200 a month. The catch is he has to carry a side arm to collect rents and make repairs. Plus, they are all repo's that he is putting 20,000 to 40,000 in rehab. They are usually missing all drywall, all plumbing and plumbing fixtures, all wiring, light fixtures, etc... He is basically buying a house that is in the framing area process of construction. He even had his car stolen once while making repairs on one of them. BUT, he is getting 1,200 for a house he paid 50,000 for, LOL. Oh yea, to top it off, he can't get insurance on them (cash investor). No thank you.

I think Rich has the right idea, you have to consider so many things when investing. I like Texas and maybe Arizona.
