@Alex Katos Hey Alex! I worked in Manhattan only, which is it's own world really, completely different from the mostly suburbs of Long Island. Tons of rentals, thousands of agents working an uber-competitive market, many of them using tactics and tricks that contribute to the bad reputation we often get. It can seem like the wild west sometimes, and it's easy to get lost in the sea of unsuccessful agents that quit after less than a year. I think it's incredibly important that you connect with professionals who have a good reputation if you're going to have a lasting career. It's similar to what the advise for investing, find a mentor, someone who's doing it the right way, and learn. It's all about referrals, relationships and networking with the right people so the business begins to come your way after you've worked for it. Otherwise you're posting fake ads on craiglist every day out of desperation to get (crappy) leads any way you can. Immediate success is nearly impossible, you must plant the seeds and nurture them for them to grow. For a brand new agent, it's far from what you see on television. Work hard, network with the right people, be humble, be hungry. Best of luck to you!

@Jerry Batista Hey Jerry, I sent you a connect request. How are you linking up with these like-minded individuals? I plan to attend the RIREIG meetings in Warwick (can't make July, but I'll be there in August). Would love to meet up one of these days and talk shop. I'm pretty new to this as well, so we probably have a ton in common.

Hey Jerry, welcome to BP! I'm also interested in investing in RI, and rehabbing homes into beautiful, rentable gems. Sounds like you're off to a great start. Best to you, and hopefully we'll connect at some point, cheers!

@Stuart Astruc That's awesome! I'm going to attend the next MHV REIA meeting, looking forward to meeting you Stuart. I'm a newbie investor too, seems like a great group from what I hear.
