I've thought about this exact thing for years now....I do believe there are some major employers moving into the area. I would follow them--although I'm not quite sure how to do this---I think there's tremendous opportunity here.....of course, I could be wrong.

Welcome Rebecca,
Like anything in life, this site is what you make it. I've come across people who are a-holes and very unhelpful, and others(most people on BP) go out of their way to help. I like what you said about keeping going. If you never give up, you'll eventually win.

I'd love to get a meetup started for like-minded investors in the Seattle and surrounding areas. Would anyone else be interested in this?

I would first nail down the exact area/s you're looking in. Once you have that, a google search for "Multifamily real estate in _____ city. There should be a few names that keep coming up. Once you get 3 names/numbers, call and speak to them and from there you can choose which broker you connect with most.

Cleveland is a rough place to invest. There are pockets of opportunity, but in general, poor appreciation and not much availability....There are some outskirts in Texas like the DFW(Dallas Fort Worth) area, and some suburbs of Phoenix where there are growth markets.....which is what you should be looking for.
Also, a great resource to find where in the market cycle multifamily investments are at for particular cities. Here is a link to that... http://apartmentvestors.com/blog/understanding-mar...
Hope this helps.
