Hi,
This is for my personal property, but I figured I might get some good advice here. I am converting from oil to natural gas which is going to help me save a few grand each winter. I have a friend who does industrial HVAC who will be helping me put in the new unit. The only thing is he hasn't done gas plumbing and neither have I. We were going to learn to do it ourselves seeing its required to be inspected by the county anyway before my meter goes in, but we both have a lot on our plates now. Can anybody share any of there experiences doing similar projects. It really is only about a 20ft run or so. How much would you expect me to pay? Does anybody have a recommended plumber in the Wilmington/Newark area?
Thanks,
John

Welcome to BP Naif!
@Kevin K. Zillow/Redfin/Trulia are good but they have a bit of a delayed compared to the MLS. If you find a good Realtor in the area they would be able to send you MLS listings that meet your criteria as soon as they hit the market or drop in price.

@Sean Brooks Thanks for offering your help. I actually found a really good inspector, Shawn Thomas from Amerispec. He did a very thorough inspection and offered a lot of advice he's learned from managing his own properties.

@Joe Trinsey Welcome to BP. I am looking and almost invested in the Wilmington Area myself. If all goes well I should be closing on my first property at the end of the month.
There are some good deals to be had in Wilmington, but just be careful. Determining the quality of neighborhoods can be tricky.

@Walt Payne Good Point. I just wanted to make sure I am getting a good thorough inspection. I've only had one done on my personal home and in my opinion he did a great job and I learned a lot. Unfortunately he retired, so I had to use a new one for this time. I did find that during my previous home inspection that some of the questions I asked about the furnace triggered him to spend additional time evaluating it, which may of been above and beyond the typical inspection.
@Account Closed Thanks, I'll have to pay attention on how he goes about inspecting for mold and termites. This could end up saving me from having to pay an inspection fee on a property that I shouldn't of bothered making an offer on.

I hired a home inspector for my first deal and will be doing my inspection tomorrow. Does anybody have any good tips for me? I.E. Common things that you had to remind a home inspector to check, tip for negotiating any need repairs, ECT.

Congrats on your first deal. If all goes well I should be closing on my first at the end of September.

@Shane Spaulding Your only a year away. Just keeps saving and try to find a mentor in your area. You might even be able to make a little extra cash while doing it. I'm sure there's tons of landlords out there who would appreciate a enthusiastic young guy interested in real estate to help them rehab a house, clean between tenants or even just to provide lawn care. Then when you come of age maybe one will be willing to partner up with you. That way there credit will get the mortgage and your credit will be established by being on it.
