@Andrew Postell Ok. So they can tell me what I might qualify for once I have a property, and can tell me that BEFORE I have the actual property, no matter what it's worth? I'd just think I could at least go in there and have them look over my numbers/credit/background and all and at LEAST have them say "sure, there's a chance that we would loan you X for X property as long as it was appraised to our liking". I'd think that might be a good idea, too.

I'll just have to try it and see, I suppose! Jump right in!

@Kenneth Garrett so this must be why the book always lists the order as getting a renter first, THEN hitting the bank. Makes sense.

@Evan Polaski Thank you so much. I qualify for all the things you mentioned, so I suppose I should be fine. Still scary to think about! But being a bit scared is good. : )

@Lance Langenhoven I totally agree about doing things opposite of the way others do. But yeah, I have to warm up to it a little. LOL. I'll keep your course in mind. Still reading BRRRR. And I refuse to be one of those who reads and reads and reads and never takes action. The hard part for me will be to figure out a market. I live 'nowhere' and 'everywhere'. Though I know many buy out of state. Not sure I should do that on my first real investment property. Nope.

Hey all!

So with the refinance part after the rehab, here's my question:

Do you go to the bank beforehand to somehow pre-qualify? My brain is concerned I might buy a property, do the work, then go to lenderss and get rejected for a refinance for 'X' reason.

Are there reasons they could reject and do you go to talk to a lender beforehand to somehow pre-qualify? I would want to make sure I didn't get stuck not able to pull my investment back out of the property.
