So the biggerpockets support staff got back to me and said they're working on it (this was Dec. 4) but I haven't heard back from them and just checked and it still doesn't have that functionality.

I've just advised them that I've had to cancel my regular monthly meetup because I couldn't use their event scheduler.  Hopefully that will light a fire under them to fix this issue.

Welcome to biggerpockets - I've been investing in US real estate from Toronto since 2012 and also run a (mostly) monthly meetup here for those in the GTA that are US RE investors.  

The short answer is "yes", we can invest without visas or permanent residence status and yes we can succeed.  PM me and we can chat more.

Within the last month the "create an event" form has changed which forces the event creator to choose a US state and ZIP code - neither of which applies to my meetup in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  Anyone know how to get around this?  Thought I'd post here since only Pro Members can create events.  Thanks

I use National Real Estate Insurance Group (aka Affinity) - they've been very easy to work with.  Not all insurance companies will insure vacant buildings / construction projects.

I will likely be late due to a family emergency - should be there by about 7 or so.  I've asked a few people to welcome anyone showing up so look around for people looking like they're at a meetup.  :^)

This meetup is a networking event for anyone living in (or visiting!) Toronto who invests in real estate anywhere in the US. This is a regular event, usually on the second Wednesday of every month with it on Mondays every once in a while. No pitching or selling, just a venue to share experiences and resources for those of us actively investing in the US. Anyone interested in learning more about investing in US real estate is also welcome, of course.

I expect it will go from 6 until about 9. The location was chosen to be easily accessed from the subway (it's just a few minutes walk from Sheppard subway stop) and close proximity to the 401.

I've always had my RE attorney here (in Toronto) notarize my documents for US transactions - they've always been accepted in Chicago and Florida.  I've heard of other places in the US where they expect the person to travel there which seems crazy to me...
