Chris Mason oh totally! I didn't mean it like that. I'm just saying in the market I'm in privacy is king. To put it another way I wouldn't get bookings at all if I have it listed that it's a duplex and someone lives in the other half. They'll book the other other cabin down the street. There's several thousand cabins where i am, in a vacation-rental-only/tourism part of the world.

Chris Mason Brandon Hall I love it also. I'm sure it would work perfect in many areas. However in my market if I try to Airbnb the second half of a duplex I'll sink in 2 weeks with terrible reviews saying "there were other people living in this house don't stay here it's not private"

When I have to ask this question on BP it's time to find a new accountant. LOL.
I will get my first 1099 from Airbnb this year. Do those numbers get transferred to a schedule E or am I actually paying regular old 1099 self employment tax??
Thanks!

Seems most of the folks saying no to the Keurig also do not have one at home. Back to the mold comment. We have one at home and I may wash the part that holds the water every 6 months and I've never seen mold. You should give one a try I think it'll change your mind.
That being said I'm still not sold on getting one for each of my properties. I'll give it a shot on this first one. Provide 2 k-cups per check in and see how it goes. If they complain there weren't 2 for each day I'll take it away. If I don't hear anything I'll leave it. If they start raving about it in reviews I'll raise prices.

I should preface by saying I don't drink coffee.
We provide a drip maker and coffee grounds. I get a $6 canister from the kitchen aisle at Walmart and fill it with cheap McDonald's brand coffee and get rave reviews about our "fantastic" "gourmet" coffee.
I'm thinking about upgrading Keurig in all of my units. Make the guests BYO K-cup. What do you think?
How do you handle your vacation rentals?

I have spent the past 4 days updating and tweaking my VRBO listings. My concern is it's too late. I've been told they give precedence to new listings and I'm not new anymore I'm just old listings with few reviews.
I've spent probably 15 hours on my 4 listings lets see if it pays off!

After all. With 6 properties booked at 28+ nights per month and more often than not hitting 100% occupancy.... why would I care where the bookings come from?
The fact that everyone on BP is so quick to tell me Airbnb is a joke I just can't understand. I suppose I should keep my shut and keep all my bookings to myself. ;)
Besides wasn't this post about Airbnbs new rule? No one has any incite in that. I guess I need to start an Airbnb only forum! Lol
