Great advice from Jeremy above. Wholeheartedly recommend getting an independent agent/broker. They tend to fight for you when there's issues vs an in-house agent pretty much does what they are told by their employer. At least that's been our history. We've had a great experience with Scott Wenclewicz (wenc-insurance.com). They are insuring Airbnb, SFR, Multi-family and vacant (flips/rehabs) for us and have several insurers they use to get you the best price and service.

There is a Facebook page called “Indiana Out of State Investors” where many people connect. Check that out.

Cody,
I'd highly encourage you to talk with Jeff Wallenius of North Peak Investments. Honest, reliable and professional. Offers full turn-key solutions as well as a variety of financing options. Really encourage you to do your due diligence on anyone you talk to as we've had a few bad experiences here. Jeff's been featured on Bigger Pockets podcasts (#241) and has invested extensively in the Indianapolis market.

I’ve had very good luck just filling out the appropriate paperwork, pulling comps in the area and stopping by the Township assessors office. Actually, met the assessor and he was very pleasant and adjusted them within a month. That’s a bit of a challenge for you being out of state
