@Darius Falahkhir I am a real estate agent on Maui.  I have many investor clients that do write off their trip when they come to visit their rental property.  If you do not own a rental property here I don't believe you can write off any part of the trip.

You should definitely confirm with a CPA.

I am looking for information about investing in Maui HI.  I would love to hear from anyone who has experience investing in this or a similar type market ie. high median at $560,000, resort based, very limited new construction, high appreciation rates.  Where do the opportunities lie?  I know there is a lot of opportunity in the high-end flip market but the capital required for entry there is $1M +.   Any help on where to focus in this type of market would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you
