Like most of us start out, I have been working a W-2 job for a few years and saving up to eventually kickstarting my real estate investing. Now I am at the point that I feel like I may have enough money to get started but I keep telling myself to save up a bit more before diving in. Am I just using this excuse as a scapegoat? Currently, I have about 15k cash and another 25k invested in the stock market via ETF's. Should I consider cashing out on the funds invested?

Would love to get some feedback and hear what you guys think. Thanks BP!

Currently in the early stages of looking for a market to focus in and would love to invest in-state (Miami resident). Are there any markets you guys would consider worth looking into? I see a lot of talk surrounding Jacksonville - any others that would be worthwhile?

@Orita Issartel thank you very much for the warm welcome Orita! I see that you are also from Miami. If it wouldn't be too much of a burden, I would love to pick your brain just a little bit.

David Turnbull thanks for the welcome David! That's exactly what I am looking for. To expand my knowledge and network around real estate to ultimately leverage those two items and apply them towards closing deals 👍

Hello BP family!

After lurking the site for quite some time and trying to learn as much as I can by reading up on many out of the gazillion posts/threads on PB, I finally decided to introduce myself.

My name is Maykol Au, a fellow Miamian (if that is even a thing?). I am 24 years old and a CPA, currently employed by one of the big accounting firms, mostly specializing in international and federal taxes.

I have always been interested in investing; whether through stocks, ETF's, mutual funds, etc. However, it was not until maybe a year ago that I ran into real estate investing and began reading blog posts, books, listening to podcasts, etc.

Even though I have been studying RE for quite some time I am still a complete newbie, looking to hopefully secure my first property in 2018. Yes, this is my new years resolution!

BP has definitely kept me extremely motivated and focused to embark on this journey as many of you share your experiences and knowledge.

With that being said, I just want to leave everyone with a warm hello - I look forward to contributing to the community and networking with many of you!

Looking at the pros & cons in out of state vs. local investing for my first property, this book couldn't have come with better timing. Thanks!

@AntoineMartel how exactly are you bringing in the JV investors without putting up any cash on your end? Are you the one to actually go out and find the deals or what else are you bringing to the table? Just wondering as It is something I would like to accomplish.
