I am looking for a lawyer and CPA in Asheville, NC area. If you are or can refer a lawyer and CPA in this area to assist/consult me and my business partner please contact me. We would like someone to help in forming, drafting operating agreement, and consulting us on legalities and tax code. I can find any random lawyer and CPA to assist us, but am hoping to find someone either an investor themselves or intimately knowledgeable in small business and real estate investing- so I'm posting here. I appreciate any interested parties or recommendations! Thanks!

I've been researching these sites as lead generators through their preferred agent services. I've read a lot of bad stuff. I would love to hear some stories from here on the boards as well.

I'd love to have a list of people to avoid and those you'd recommend in the Asheville area. Sending colleague requests.

Every question asked in these forums can be referred to the professionals in that relevant field. I post questions here as often times the professionals of said relevant field who frequent these boards are more knowledgeable and of similar mindset than any random one you call or visit in an office. I post questions here when I don't care to call or visit an office. At some point I will have to do that, but now isn't the time.

@Shaun Weekes Thank you for the reply. I will take a listen! The person who I had in mind to rent the rooms out actually is a nurse.... but fortunately not providing in home care for myself or anyone in my family so I'm sure that does not count.

I just bought a primary residence with a VA loan. I understand I must live in this house for a year before using it as a rental property. Banks also require two years of rental income to count towards a future mortgage. Would I be able to live in the house as required while renting two of the three bedrooms in the house and use it as rental income for a mortgage in two years?
If the above scenario is possible..... and if the mortgage is only in my name, if I become married 6 months from now, can I rent the rooms to my wife and continue to count this as rental income?

I understand the going rate for property management to be 6-10% for traditional rentals. Is that the case with nightly rate vacation rentals as well? I believe I've heard higher rates at around 30% for this type of service.
We will be using a small local bank and I will be discussing the intentions of transferring the property to the legal entity so there are no suprises. I don't anticipate problems here but I won't know until I speak with them regarding this. I know there is a lot of discussion on the topic and it seems people have differing opinions and experiences.
Thanks for the responses!
