Personally, I would never hold an investment property that wasn't in my area. If you hire a property management company, thatll eat into your yearly income. For me, whether or not it's worth it to hold onto depends on the value of the property and the projected value. It also depends on your father's financial situation/age and his retirement funds. Just to get a better idea, what neighborhood in Jersey City is his condo located? Jersey City has gentrified significantly in recent times and it might be better for him/you to sell the property and invest in a property closer to where you/him will be living.
