Hi, Lydia! I have not attended any as of yet. I just missed one this week unfortunately. But I am searching and in the meantime I am posting on BP and getting great feedback and also just reading, reading and reading! I also signed up for 2 Webinars on BP, I am going to connect with as many people as possible because it can only go upward from there for me and them as well. We'll all grow together right? Thanks for the advice, I do appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply! I am stuck on what I could bring to the table, since I did read to offer some skill in return. Of course, my mind is coming up blank at the moment. However, I'll think of something because I can and have worn many different hats, so there has to be something I can do for someone else as well.

@Brian Kehoe I think money can be made in Philadelphia, that is why I want to start my REI here, the place I know. Don't think you can go wrong, just do some research on area, etc.
I have always been interested in investing in duplexes. Philadelphia is good for those, maybe one day we'll cross paths.

Thanks for the advice. Guess I am on the right track: reading and looking for meetings. However, I never thought about having more than one mentor. Guess if that happens it would just happen.
Thank you again!

Okay, I'm new to Real Estate Investing; I mean like brand spanking new! I have heard I need a team which makes all the sense in the world: RE Agent, RE attorney, General Contractor, Lender, Mentor- my head is spinning! I am trying to figure this all out, so that leaves you - my BP community.
Can I do this, start - without a mentor, while I find a mentor, and how do I find a mentor?!
I am looking into what events will be held near me (Philadelphia, PA), and to start talking to people and getting information, etc. I know the relationships between a real estate investor, their team and mentor should be organically established, and honestly I would not have it any other way. I do not want to force a business relationship, I would rather enjoy calling and speaking with someone knowing that we both are looking to build together. Any suggestions from my BP Community will be greatly appreciated on how to get all this together, because I want to do this right (though I am sure there can/will be ups and downs). Unfortunately, I do not know anyone in RE, family or friends (except those who bought their personal homes) to go to for advice, but I do not want to let that stop me.
Okay, let the replies begin!

Justin thank you for the links. I am still looking around this site and seeing so much information being offered and it is great to see how people are really helping each other become knowledgeable.
I will make sure to do the same in the future for others staring out like myself.

@Aaron Hale...Thanks for the advice. I will be looking at any networking events near me to get the "feel" of things and it can only be a positive outcome. Talking with others will help me really know what part of real estate I want to lean towards and since there are so many avenues, I do want to pick what's best for me.
Thanks again!
