@Jim O. thanks for the heads up, I know it can take quite a bit of time to set up an appointment with the embassy. its good to know that it's not impossible. I will have to pick your brain as I start to make more moves.

@Brandon Brown Thanks for the advice.
@Alan Sue Yes, being overseas does add a little stress of making an investment, especially as a newbie. I am currently narrowing my search and am communicating with turnkey providers.
@Tom Ott Thank you for the links. Especially for what to ask a turnkey provider.
@mark
@Mark Hart I have heard good things about the Memphis area and Tennessee in general. I would like to hear a little more from you soon.

I am curious to know if anyone has worked with North Peak Investments before. If so, how was your experience?
Was it a smooth process?
Did everything work out as planned?
Were there any issues/problems that arose?
If you could do it all over again what would you do differently?
Any recommendations?

Thanks for the responses!
Right now my goals are to acquire buy and hold rental properties (condos, multi units) for cash flow. Preferably turnkeys as I would like to make a purchase and get a renter in as soon as possible without much hassle.
I am originally from Portland, Oregon, but the prices are incredibly high right now. My girlfriend and I have been looking in her hometown in Guilford, CT. There the prices for condos are very low with decent rents.
Being that I am overseas for a few more years I won't be able to be as involved as I would like and plan to use a property manager to look after everything.
My biggest concern is time. I only have so much vacation time to fly to the states and check things out... or would that even be necessary?

Hello Everyone,
I am very interested in investing in real estate, but I am currently living overseas in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
If anyone has tips, suggestions and/or advice on how to accomplish my investing goals I would greatly appreciate it.
