@Brad Shepherd

Brad, I grew up in Florida, lived in a bunch of spots after that while being in the military, and moved to Fort Collins after that. IMO nothing beats Fort Collins, Colorado. Best place I have lived by far.

If you hate seeing that interest charge as much as I do every month I would say get rid of that ugly debt first.

His snowball method works great for all debt that’s not real estate.

@Sara Mickelson

That was supposed to be a reply to your post, not sure how it ended up in one of my old ones but you get the idea, and good luck!

@Sara Mickelson

I stumbled on the podcast episode featuring @Robert Jones late last year as I was starting my journey as well. He just recently got us our first property. Having an experienced investor who is extremely knowledgeable of the local market made the entire process simple and stress-free, would highly recommend him when you start.

It’s really dependent on your circumstances but for me, if my employer didn’t match mine, I wouldn’t use it.

My biggest mistake wasn’t a property, but an attempt at becoming a full-time agent that failed miserably about two years ago. If you’re interested in that sort of story, I’de be happy to provide details.

Hey @Dan Kim

Welcome. Moved to Fort Collins 3 years ago and fell in love. Hopefully you enjoy the state as much as I have!

Im trying to compile a list of 10 books to finish by the end of the year, what are some books you guys would recommend for someone wanting to retire off of rental income in 10 years? Any type of books will do, knowledge, motivational, whatever.

A lack of direction. I have been toying with the idea of becoming financially independent through real estate for a few years and even gave a crack at becoming an agent last year, but never took the time to figure out exactly what direction I wanted to go. Now I have a job that allows me to put away a couple extra hundred every check and am about to turn 30 and decided that I’m going to spend my 30’s doing whatever it takes to own as many rental doors as possible so I won’t have to sell my time in my 40’s. Aside from aggressively paying off my credit card and car debt, I’m not too sure how I can get my feet wet, especially since I live in Northern Colorado where the market is insane right now.
