Rich Weese posted a thread on $1 Million Dollars - that he had to put into an investment, and was taking suggestions and offers. He received the suggestion that Jon made - transactional funding - from a couple of people. And he has partnered with Will Barnard (nationwidepi is his handle on BP) to provide this funding. Mainly because the returns are "EXORBITANT" (that's Rich's word).

How long will that be a "hot" thing to do? As long as short sales and REO flips are hot. If you want a longer term investment, then this might not be for you. Or do the transactional funding for your short term gains, and when things cool down in short sales and REO then look elsewhere.

Kel,

Looks like it's well within the 2% rule, so still a good deal.

The high-deductible plan can be cancelled. You then have to pay a maintenance fee to the third party administrator for administration of the dormant account.

As to the question regarding a person having coverage at the same time under both HSA and traditional health insurance, I believe that is prohibited. It certainly gets to the gray area of which insurer is to pay the claim when a claim occurs; most likely, both would point at the other!

I'm not certain about the statement made earlier that the funds can be pulled out like a Roth IRA; for medical purposes, yes - but otherwise I was under the impression that HSA was more like a traditional IRA when it comes to withdrawals. But I could be mistaken regarding this. Anybody have a link that can clarify this?

Christopher,

You're welcome!

There's no way to "connect" all of those together except for them to get collected and clickable as I've done here. I think many would benefit if that was done for a lot more of the topics that frequently arise on the forums.

Thoughts on that anybody?

In my preparations for buying at sheriff sale, I frequently see recorded loan modifications. Ones made in 2007 and 2008 are going back into foreclosure in 2009 - no big surprise, since as Susan Horton mentioned, they rarely work long term; the problems for most of these people is not just in their loan terms.

I keep forgetting to ask how you do this when you get into the multi units, like 4, 5 and above.

In some multi-unit rentals that I have seen, electric baseboard heat is used in units where running heat via other methods is prohibitive to do.

Get a uniform (blue or beige top to bottom). Door knock, announcing "maintenance - we're checking the building because somebody reported that they are having a problem with insects. We'd like to check all units to see how bad it is." Then you get in, and look around.
