Why can't you unlist the property, get through the remaining bookings and call it good. In all reality since you continued to advertise the property and bookings came through, you need to honor those bookings. Almost all the OTAs have a similar host cancellation penalty and take it very seriously! 

Washing once a month is pretty typical. Many prefer white because it looks upscale and like a nice hotel, but lots of hosts have been moving to light gray to help with the staining and spots that can occur.

Taxes should be in the underwriting but at the same time, the percentage charged by the local city/county/state should be baked into the nightly rate. 

When it comes to banking for STR properties, we always recommend Relay.

@Roman Katz was in KC and knew of a few STR companies. He may be a good connection to tap into.

We actually don't ask or ever schedule cleanings on any major holiday. We either make sure the booking extends over the holiday, or just block a night out and then the cleaner comes the next day. 

From what I'm hearing, not much!

This answer all depends on personal preference and budget. Everybody has their ideas which can confuse an investor all the more! But once an investor narrows down what areas draw them and then a budget, clarity starts to come.
