Albany NY is a very stable market, because all the state jobs, colleges, universities, hospitals, and nanotech. Good units are hard to come by, but if you have something really nicely renovated then you can rent way above market. I have a duplex block away from Albany Med (AMC) and rent both units to medical students. I think it works out just fine, but I'm local.

I think there is a totally different market to cater to in regards to Med & Law students. They will pay a pretty penny for a nice place. Especially around that area.

Hi Samuel. Broadway is picking up. A lot of apartment conversions and renovations going on. Inbox me to chat.

I would hesitate to buy any property for any students downtown because so many areas downtown are pretty sketchy.  Maybe you can buy cheap and make money renting out rooms l just wouldn't be looking for the property to appreciate.  Albany just overall seems like a stagnant area (that's not necessarily a terrible thing).

I agree. But I must say it did have the buzz of being a college city 10 years ago. When there were bars EVERYWHERE.  Most of them have been shut down but I still think the image has stayed among young adults.

Yes Samuel - A lot of activity on Broadway. Multiple conversions from warehouses and office spaces to apartments.

The new zoning should be taking place soon.

Take a look at my profile and if you have ANY questions regarding my profession please shoot me a private message.
