in Québec we have the registre foncier which lists all 60 day notices of foreclosure you have to pay 1 dollar for each one and also there are a couple of private companies that have copies of that information in user friendly format. I recommend that you find the database that publicly displays that info in your province as a start.

Hi Inna,
You want to check out the Hamilton area market. There is a lot of investment going into that city and the prices are pretty low, there is definitely money to be made there. Toronto is just ridiculous, I will be a very happy man when I see the inevitable market correction happen.

Just call a few mortgage brokers and ask what the LTV is with their hard money lenders.

I have told my boss and occasionally talk to co-workers (just in case there are some networking opportunities) but generally I keep it confidential because my full-time job is community work which is oftentimes at polar opposites with respect to the mentality involved in community, non-profit work and the mentality involved in real estate investing.

@Wes Derequito
I noticed that you didn`t get any responses. From my experience I don't know of any websites like that existing in Canada.

Hi @Carling Stillman and welcome to bigger pockets, as a fellow Canadian I can tell you that everything you learn here can be adapted to the Canadian market as well. It just takes creativity.

Hi Itsik & Claudetet,
Welcome to BP you are in the right place if you want to learn about real estate, I would highly recommend the podcasts and http://www.biggerpockets.com/renewsblog/2014/05/25...
I am originally from St. Catharines, Ontario and I am going to begin to do some flips there within the next year. If you are interested in doing some joint ventures closer to home then PM me.
It is not only the States that have good deals, Canada does as well although you need to be more agressive to find them.

Great content and everything that I am going to need to blossom as a REI. I purchased the audio book and, just as an fyi the metadata on the audio files needs to be looked at, in the chapter two metadata it says chapter 1 so it shows up as chapter 1 on my playlist. Also author is unknown so makes it harder when media player auto detects artist or album.
